What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for original, thoughtful pieces that align with the SolitudeAdvocacy.org mission to empower solitude through awareness, research, and resources.
We accept submissions in the following categories:
Personal Essays: Share your personal journey with solitude
Practical Tips: How-to articles that help readers embrace alone time or navigate the challenges of solitude.
Cultural Perspectives: Explore solitude in art, literature, or various practices.
Advocacy & Research: Highlight innovative projects, spaces, or initiatives that promote solitude access and equity.
Submission Guidelines
Length: ideally 800–1,200 words (but will consider in the 750-1,500 range)
Originality: Submissions must be original and unpublished.
Formatting: Please format your work as a Word document or Google Doc using a clear, readable font.
Bio: Include a brief bio about yourself, along with your website or social media links (optional).
Photos (Optional): If you’d like to include images, make sure they are high-resolution and free to use.
How to Submit
Email your submission to solosphere@solitudeadvocacy.org with the subject line: “Submission: [Your Title]”. In your email, include:
A short pitch or summary of your piece.
The full article attached as a Word or Google Doc.
Response Time
We aim to respond to submissions within 2–3 weeks. If you don’t hear back after that, feel free to follow up.
What to Expect If Accepted
We may edit your piece for clarity, tone, or length. You’ll have the opportunity to review and approve any major changes.
After publishing on Substack’s The Solosphere, we’ll also promote your piece on the Solitude Advocacy social media channels.
Compensation
While we are unable to pay contributors, we are eager to promote your work to a growing community.
